Depends, if I used VB4 before and liked it, I would.

If I didn't like it, I wouldn't. For me to use VB4, it would need all these features:

    - Easy permission system
    - Auto Modification installer
    - Auto Theme Installer
    - Great free themes

    +1 :)
I've tried the demo, but it was too hard for me to find the things I needed. It's a great software, but it's too hard to find something you need. Although some themes are pretty nice. :) But if it was free, I think I'd use it, because it's still a great software with many features.

    You didn't plus 1 my karma :( :p

But yeah, if it was free, I think it would have more adopters and such. Still, I heard something about it having bugs upon release that developers didn't fix, wanting to push a new version out early and possibly make money (not sure about it).

Hearing that, I'm happy that SMF is free and the developers take their time.. But a faster development cycle for SMF would be nicer though.

Sorry I didn't noticed there was karma :p I increased it now though :)

I'm happy too that SMF is free. It's development might be slow but it's still an amazing piece software. But they really need to recruit more developers. There are now only 2 developers, of which 1 is inactive. :(

I agree, SMF is being held back because of the lack of developers.

I think one of the old developers planned to make SMF 2.1 or SMF 3.0 a whole new core... I think a really recoded version of SMF. It would have been amazing :)

Anyways, hopefully SMF 2.1 or 3.0 will have more social aspect to it, as well as a web 2.0 type of feel.

I will never use VB4 even if its free. I can say that because I have used vb. Vb3 is good but vb4 is a disaster.

Yeah, vb4 was indeed rushed by IB (owner of vB software).

Right now I am open to anything besides SMF. I am leaning towards XenForo for Meaning Les. I think that I will wait to get Omni Webz back online until Wedge is released.
As for vBulletin, I wouldn't poke that with a stick. It's not worth the hassle.

    ;)

Xenforo should be better than vB for sure.

It defiantly has that great look.

I have to say i really don't like VB at all. If i was going paid software i would say Xeno is smoother.

Yeah :) I bought Xenforo even though someone offered me a vB license for $50 (used).

    Xenforo is amazing!
