    Simple Machines Forum 2.x

Simple Machines Forum is a forum product developed by the Simple Machines group. This review is meant for the 2.x series. 1.0 and 1.1 will come soon. The installation is quite good, there's nothing wrong with it. It comes to the point and it even creates a database when it doesn't exist yet. After the installation the first thing you'll see is the boardindex, with a sample board + a sample topic. It's user friendly in my opinion, although I find 1.1 more friendly. One of the things I like in SMF is the editor. It looks very clean and easy to understand. However, settings pages are everywhere and that's why I didn't gave administration a 7 or 8. Some things are just hard to find. But, aside from that there is a search function in the admin panel, what makes the admin panel somewhat easier to understand. I don't like the design at all, it's hard to build a theme upon curve. It has some strong points, but it has weak points too. I like core better though, but that's probably because I am used to use SMF 1.x. If you need a new forum, I'd recommend looking at SMF. It's permissions are easy to understand and there are too many support specialists to help you around. If you have any questions, please ask.

    Installation: 8/10
    User friendly: 7.5/10
    Design: 6/10
    Administration: 6/10
Total: 6.9 (Sorry if this is calculated wrong, I'm not good in maths)
