So, I've seen a lot of people wanting to start a gaming forum and this will cover how to start or at least when to start.

A gaming forum that will be big is usually one that is specific to a single game. That game should be a series type of game, like for example, it will have other versions released in the future. Examples are Call of Duty, Halo, Resident Evil.

If you are starting out, make sure you start with a game that just recently came out. A game you play and like! It helps if you make friends using Xbox live or Play Station Network or real life friends.

Buy a domain name that suits your forum. Should have the game title or at least something relating to the game. I wouldn't put version number because when the Game becomes let's say Halo 3 (from Halo 2) your forum might look kinda old to potential members and visitors.

After you're done with that, you should invite your friends. In a gaming forum, it is the gaming friends who make the biggest impact. Meaning, your friends will help start discussion and play an active role. Why would they do this? Simple, they play the game and enjoy it like you! Also, if it is indeed a new game, there aren't many other places to discuss about the game.

You should also focus on turning your forum social. You need at least a Facebook, if not a Twitter. Get your friends to like the page and spread the word to their friends! When more people start playing the game and see that their friends are discussion about it in a forum, those people will come join your forum as well.

So remember, when it comes to gaming forums, make sure you market using word of the mouth and social network.

    Good luck!
